We are formed from an IT specialist, AtomGate. Our aim is to improve the lives of well-deserving, up-and coming young black South Africans who’ve shown that they have some entrepreneurial flair and a passion for all things IT. Our approach is organic and long-term, and we plan to create sustainable IT business that will shape the future of our young entrepreneurs and the communities that they will affect for the rest of their lives.
With funding received from generous donors and corporates in the ICT space and beyond, Atom Foundation seeks out and identifies candidates that have skills and the potential to excel in the ICT arena. We look for candidates who have already begun pursuing an education and are seeking experience and mentorship in the sector. We work with and mentors’ candidates up to a point where they can manage and run successful IT businesses on their own, while adding value to the communities they serve. The foundation set up businesses for candidates while majority of the initial shareholding remains within the foundation to assist the next candidates.
Atom Foundation also facilitates Socio-Economic Development, Enterprise Development, Supplier Development and Skills Development projects on behalf of sponsors in the aim of securing new IT business opportunities for new IT enterprises. Income generated is then used to fund new opportunities and create sustainable business models. We believe in “giving a man a rod and teaching him to fish” as opposed to “giving him a fish”. Success is hard earned, and passion is to see successful young businessmen and women entering the ICT spaces and changing the future for generations to come!
